Hello,
Welcome to the first issue of ‘10+1 Things’.
Here are 10+1 Things’ which I thought were worth sharing:
Pin Hole Camera Project
I decided to work on my Photography project which was long pending. I decided to shoot some images using a Pinhole camera. I converted my existing DSLR into a pinhole camera by drilling a hole and attaching an aluminum foil with a pinhole to it. I have designed the cover for the series(It’s titled ‘Confined Visions’) and you can check it below. The image was shot using the pinhole camera.
Cryptocurrencies and Elon Musk
I believe that there is a future for cryptocurrencies. Last week has been terribly bad for cryptocurrencies following the downward momentum ever since Elon Musk’s tweet. I looked at this situation differently and decided to invest in some currencies which I believe have a future. In fact, I invested in few new ones which are having a lesser carbon footprint(Let me know if you’re interested in knowing which currencies I invested in).
New Project: Climate Sapiens
I have been fascinated by Climate Change ever since I learned the science behind it during my postgraduate studies. I decided to get my hands on it by starting a publication on substack. I’m still setting it up, but you can check it out here.
Free Reuters Course
In partnership with Facebook, Reuters has released a new Training course on Introduction to Digital Journalism. It’s not rocket science but really interesting if you’re into journalism. I completed it over the weekend.
Sound of Metal
I don’t watch movies as I used to these days, but one of my friends suggested this movie and I decided to give it a go. I was awestruck by the thread and the background score. It’s the story of a drummer who begins to lose his hearing and how his life changes around it. Would definitely recommend it.
Energy Systems Modelling
I’m currently doing this free course on Energy Modelling by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology: I learned a bit of modeling during my postgraduate studies but decided to learn it more deeply as it fascinates me.
Global Warming I: The Science and Modeling of Climate Change
Since I have started to work on the Climate Change publication, I decided to focus more on gaining more knowledge regarding climate change. You can also join this free course on Coursera by David Archer.
Freelancing on Fiverr
I had earned some money in the past using Fiverr. I decided to reactivate my account on Fiverr and start promoting my gig for some passive income. You can check my Fiverr gig on creating a photography/portfolio website here.
The 2 hour Job Search
I’m currently reading a book, 2-Hour Job Search by Steve Dalton. It’s a non-fiction book on how to find a job efficiently using proven formulas. I decided to give it a go since I’m also in the process of a job search.
You and Your Research
You and Your Research” is a speech given by the scientist, Dr. Richard W. Hamming to a group of scientists working at Bell Labs. It centers on his observation on why only a few scientists make significant contributions. You can read it here.
30 Day Meditation Challenge
I’m currently on the 22nd day of my meditation challenge. I can’t say that I had a drastic or a revolutionary change in my life ever since meditating, but I can see small changes with the practice of mindfulness(more on this later). I use the Waking Up app by Sam Harris for meditation.
That’s 10+1 Things for the week.
See you next week!
With Love,
Rishikesh
Quote of the week : “No number of sightings of white swans can prove the theory that all swans are white. The sighting of just one black one may disprove it."
~ Karl Popper
I’d be Interested to know more about your crypto story. I’m dabbling with it. Will be great to see some more of the pinhole too!
